Coconut pound cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 5 item
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- coconut - 1 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- shortening
- cake flour - 3 c
- sweet milk - 1 c
- coconut flavoring
How to make coconut pound cake:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Add milk and flavoring. Add dry ingredients. Beat well. Fold in coconut. Bake 1 1/2 hours at 300° in a large tube pan, greased well.Note: For the 1 1/2 cups shortening, I like to use 1 cup of Crisco and 1 stick of a good grade margarine. Do not use butter with this recipe.
