Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 c
  • eggs - 5 item
  • salt - 3/4 tsp
  • flour - 2 c
  • water - 1/2 c
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • flaked coconut
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • coconut extract - 1 tsp
  • Crisco or 1/2 c - 1 c

How to make coconut cake:

Boil sugar and water for 1 minute; add flavoring. Pour over cake while still in pan. Let stand for 1/2 hour (sprinkle a little powdered sugar on top to keep it from sticking to plate). Turn out on plate and immediately turn back on another plate so it will cool right side up.
