Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • cinnamon - 1 item
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 7 c
  • brown sugar - 1/2 c
  • melted butter - 6 Tbsp
  • shortening - 6 Tbsp
  • raisins - 1 c
  • nuts optional - 1 item
  • beaten eggs - 3 item
  • yeast - 2 Tbsp
  • lukewarm water - 1 c
  • scalded milk - 1 c

How to make cinnamon buns:

Mix yeast, 1 tablespoon sugar and warm water; set aside. Scald milk; add shortening, 1/2 cup sugar and salt. Cool to lukewarm. Add 2 cups flour to make a batter. Add yeast mixture and beaten eggs; beat well. Add 5 more cups flour or enough to make a soft dough. Knead and place in greased bowl. Cover and rise about 2 hours. Roll about 1/4-inch and spread with melted butter, sugar and cinnamon; add nuts or raisins if desired. Bake at 375° for 12 minutes.
