Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 5 c
- salt - 1/4 c
- vinegar - 1/2 gal
- ground ginger - 1/2 Tbsp
- celery seed - 2 Tbsp
- chopped cabbage - 1/2 gal
- green peppers - 6 item
- turmeric - 1/2 Tbsp
- onions - 6 item
- chopped green tomatoes - 1 qt
- ground mustard - 2 Tbsp
- red peppers - 6 item
- mixed whole spices - 2 Tbsp
How to make chow chow:
Chop onions and peppers. Mix all vegetables with 1/4 cup salt. Let stand overnight. Tie mixed spices in a bag. Add sugar and spices to vinegar. Simmer 20 minutes.
