Chocolate oatmeal cake
Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- granulated sugar - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- soda - 1 tsp
- boiling water
- firmly packed brown sugar - 1 c
- butter or margarine soft - 1/3 c
- quick or old fashion oats uncooked - 1 c
- envelope no-melt unsweetened chocolate flavored ingredient - 1 oz
How to make chocolate oatmeal cake:
Pour boiling water over oats; stir to combine. Cover and let stand 20 minutes. Beat butter until creamy and gradually add sugars, beating until fluffy. Blend in vanilla, eggs and chocolate. Add oats mixture; blend well. Sift together flour, soda and salt. Add to creamed mixture; blend well. Pour batter into a well-greased and floured 9-inch square baking pan. Bake in preheated oven (350°) for 50 to 55 minutes. Cool 15 minutes. Remove from pan; cool thoroughly. Add icing.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, < 60 mins.
