Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 2 item
- pkg - 6 oz
- chopped nuts - 1/2 c
- flour
- brown sugar - 1 c
- evaporated milk - 1/4 c
- coconut - 1 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- cocoa - 1/2 c
- boiling water
- margarine - 1 c
- cream of tartar - 1 tsp
- white sugar - 1 c
- quick oatmeal - 1 c
- Stir and add both sugars and slightly beaten eggs
How to make chocolate oatmeal cake:
Pour water over oats and margarine; let stand 15 minutes. Stir and add both sugars and slightly beaten eggs. Blend. Sift soda, cream of tartar, cocoa and flour together and add to batter. Stir until well blended.Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 30 to 40 minutes.Fudgy Frosting:1/2 c. white sugar2 Tbsp. brown sugar1 c. coconut1/4 c. evaporated milk6 Tbsp. margarine1/2 c. chopped nuts6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips Put all ingredients in heavy saucepan and heat until melted and smooth. Spread over warm cake and return to oven. Bake until frosting is bubbly, about 3 to 5 minutes.
