  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • granulated sugar - 1/2 c
  • pkg - 1 oz
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1/2 c
  • flour
  • soda - 1/2 tsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • brown sugar, packed - 1/2 c
  • shortening part butter - 2/3 c

How to make chocolate chip cookies:

Heat oven to 375°. Mix shortening, sugar, egg and vanilla; stir dry ingredients together and blend in. Mix in nuts and chocolate pieces. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough about 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown. Cool slightly before removing from baking sheet.
