Chocolate chip cookies

Ingredients/Components

• vanilla - 1 tsp
• granulated sugar - 3/4 c
• salt - 1/2 tsp
• brown sugar - 1/2 c
• soda - 1/2 tsp
• chocolate chips - 1 pkg
• egg - 1 item
• shortening - 3/4 c
• nuts - 3/4 c
• flour plus 3 Tbsp

How to make chocolate chip cookies:

Blend shortening and sugars. Add egg and vanilla; mix well. Add combined dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. Stir in chips and nuts. Drop from teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375° for 10 to 12 minutes.

For Christmas cookies, triple the basic ingredients, leaving out the chips and adding dates, cherries, raisins and other fruits. Recipe can be doubled, but use the same amount of chips and nuts.
