  • buttermilk - 2/3 c
  • baking powder
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • shortening - 2/3 c
  • mashed bananas
  • pecans - 1 c
  • cake flour
  • Sift flour, salt, baking powder and soda together

How to make banana cake:

Cream shortening and sugar until light and smooth. Sift flour, salt, baking powder and soda together. Add eggs, one at a time. Then add buttermilk. Add dry ingredients alternately, beating after each addition. Fold in bananas and pecans. Cook in layers at 350° for about 30 minutes.Frosting:1 stick margarine1 lb. confectioners sugar pecans vanilla Frosting: Cream margarine and confectioners sugar. Add pecans and vanilla.
