Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 12 c
- eggs - 24 item
- salt - 3 Tbsp
- chopped nuts - 8 c
- butter - 10 c
- vanilla flavoring - 1 item
- baking powder - 12 tsp
- flour all-purpose - 12 c
- pitted dates - 12 pkg
How to make chinese chews:
Reduced:1 1/4 c. butter1 1/2 c. sugar3 eggs1 1/2 c. flour (all-purpose)1/2 tsp. salt1 1/2 tsp. baking powder1 1/4 c. chopped nuts1 pkg. pitted dates1 tsp. vanilla flavoring Mix first 6 ingredients and then add vanilla to taste. Add nuts and fruit last. Pour into greased 9 x 12 pan. Bake at 250° for 15 to 20 minutes. While baking, shake down once or twice. When removed from oven, sprinkle with 10x powdered sugar. Cut while warm.Number of Servings: Yields 200 squares; yields 36 squares. Preparation Time: 15 minutes.
