Chicken cacciatore
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- oil - 1/4 c
- all-purpose flour - 1/2 c
- garlic salt - 2 cloves
- can tomato sauce - 1 oz
- chopped green pepper - 1/2 c
- oregano - 1/4 tsp
- can sliced mushrooms, drained - 1 oz
- can tomatoes, drained - 1 lb
- broiler-fryer chicken, cut up - 2 to
- thinly sliced onion rings - 2 c
How to make chicken cacciatore:
Wash chicken and pat dry. Melt shortening in a large skillet. Coat chicken pieces with flour; cook chicken over medium heat 15 to 20 minutes or until light brown. Remove chicken; set aside. Add onion, green pepper and garlic to skillet; cook and stir over medium heat until onion and pepper are tender. Stir in remaining ingredients. Add chicken to sauce; cover tightly. Simmer 30 to 40 minutes or until thickest pieces are fork-tender. Serve over rice.Recipe categories: Chicken, Main dish, Casseroles.
