Chickaritos
Ingredients/Components
- water - 1 item
- paprika - 1/4 tsp
- garlic powder - 1 tsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- salsa - 1 item
- hot pepper sauce - 1 tsp
- green onions, chopped - 1/2 c
- diced green chilies - 4 oz
- sharp Cheddar cheese
- guacamole - 1 item
- cumin, ground - 1/4 tsp
- chopped cooked chicken - 3 c
- pastry sheets, thawed - 1 item
- box frozen pastry sheets, thawed, or 10-inch pie pastry double - 1 1/4
How to make chickaritos:
In bowl combine chicken, chilies, onions, cheese and seasonings. Mix well, chill until ready to use. Remove half of pastry from refrigerator at a time. Roll, on floured surface (9 x 12-inch) rectangle; cut into 9 small rectangles. Place 2 tablespoons of filling across center of each. Wet edges and roll pastry around filling. Crimp edges with fork. Place, seam side down, on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 425° for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown. Serve with salsa and guacamole. Makes 18.May substitute chicken for beef (omit frying).
