Cherry winks

Ingredients/Components

• sugar - 1 c
• eggs - 2 item
• vanilla - 1 tsp
• milk - 2 Tbsp
• salt - 1/2 tsp
• chopped nuts - 1 c
• flour
• chopped dates - 1 c
• baking powder - 2 tsp
• margarine, softened - 3/4 c
• chopped maraschino cherries - 1/3 c
• corn flakes, crushed
• maraschino cherries, cut into quarters - 15 item

How to make cherry winks:

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside. In large mixing bowl, beat margarine and sugar until light. Add eggs. Beat well. Stir in milk and vanilla. Add flour mixture. Mix well. Stir in nuts, dates and chopped cherries. Shape tablespoon of dough into balls. Roll in cereal. Place on greased cookie sheets. Top each with cherry quarter. Bake at 350° for 10 to 14 minutes or until lightly browned. Makes about 5 dozen.
