Ingredients/Components

  • salt
  • garlic powder - 1/8 tsp
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • oregano - 1/8 tsp
  • can cream of mushroom soup - 1 3/4
  • olive oil - 1 Tbsp
  • finely chopped onion - 3/4 c
  • can tomatoes
  • thyme - 1/8 tsp
  • instant rice - 1 c
  • slices American cheese, cut into 1/2 inch strips - 3 item

How to make cherokee casserole:

Brown meat in olive oil. Add onions; cook until tender. Stir in ingredients in order given, except cheese. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Spoon into a baking dish and top with cheese. Broil until cheese is melted.
