Cheese straws
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- water - 2 Tbsp
- margarine - 1/2 lb
- cayenne pepper - 3/4 tsp
- sharp Cheddar cheese, finely grated - 1 lb
How to make cheese straws:
Sift dry ingredients together 3 times. With a large fork, mix cheese with flour mixture. Melt margarine. Add water slowly, then blend with cheese mixture.Knead dough lightly. Roll out on pastry cloth about 1/3-inch thick. Cut into strips 1/2-inch wide and 2 1/2-inches long. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake in a 300° preheated oven. Turn heat down to 225° and bake until golden. Yields 100.
