- sour cream - 1 c
- salt - 1 item
- pepper - 1 item
- chili powder - 1 item
- ground beef - 1 lb
- shredded Cheddar cheese - 2 c
- large onion, chopped - 1 item
- head lettuce, shredded - 1/2 item
- can refried beans - 1 item
- guacamole - 1 c
- small can black olives, chopped - 1 item
- large tomatoes, diced - 2 item
- sliced jalapenos - 1 item
- box tostada shells - 1 item
How to make chalupas:
In large frypan, cook onions until soft. Add beef and cook through. Add beans and spices to taste. Heat tostada shells according to package directions. Spread a layer of meat mixture on top of shell, then follow with toppings. It's best to start with the cheese so it will melt.This recipe can be very low-fat, depending on your choice of ingredients. The nonfat versions of beans, cheese and sour cream work very well.
