Ingredients/Components
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- brown sugar
- butter - 1 c
- dash of salt - 1 item
- light corn syrup - 1 c
- can sweetened condensed milk - 1 item
How to make caramels:
Melt butter; add brown sugar and salt. Stir in corn syrup. Gradually add milk. Stir constantly. Cook over medium heat until 245° (firm ball stage). Remove from heat; add vanilla. Pour into buttered pan. Makes 2 1/2 pounds.Chocolate Caramels: Add 2 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate after adding condensed milk.
