  • vanilla - 1 Tbsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • heavy cream - 1 qt
  • milk, divided - 1/2 gal
  • sugar, divided - 3 c
  • to 10 eggs, beaten lightly - 6 item

How to make caramel ice cream:

Heat 1 cup milk. Melt 1 cup sugar until light brown color. Add hot milk and stir until sugar is dissolved. Beat the eggs; add remaining milk, sugar and salt. Add to cooked mixture and cook until eggs are done. Cool mixture; add vanilla and thick cream. Finish filling can with milk or cream. Makes 1 1/2 gallons.
