  • sugar - 1 c
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • brown sugar - 1/4 c
  • butter - 1/2 c
  • egg yolks - 2 item
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • cake flour
  • almond flavoring - 1/2 tsp
  • finely chopped nuts almonds - 1 item
  • Add egg yolks, one at a time and beat

How to make caramel cookies:

Cream together butter and sugar. Add egg yolks, one at a time and beat. Add flavoring, cake flour, baking powder and salt. Press with hands in pan, 6 x 10-inch about 1/2-inch thick. Spread over finely chopped nuts (almonds).Meringue:2 egg whites, beaten very stiff1/4 c. brown sugar Beat egg whites stiff, then add brown sugar and beat, beat, beat. Cover first mixture with meringue. Bake 1/2 hour at 350°. Cut into squares.
