Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 4 item
- vanilla - 2 tsp
- milk - 1 c
- brown sugar - 1/2 c
- butter - 1 c
- baking powder
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- plain flour or cake flour - 3 c
- Add eggs, one at a time
How to make caramel cake:
Cream butter, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time. Beat after each is added. Add flour to baking powder and and add to butter mixture alternately with milk. Pour in 3 layer pans and bake at 375° for about 25 minutes or until done. Ice with Caramel Icing:Caramel Icing:3 c. sugar1 1/4 c. milk1/2 tsp. baking soda1/2 c. brown sugar1/4 c. butter1 tsp. vanilla Combine sugars and milk and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Then boil without stirring until a small amount forms a soft ball in cold water, about 232° on candy thermometer. Add butter; cool and beat until of right consistency to spread.
