Caramel apple cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla - 2 tsp
- chopped pecans - 1 c
- packed brown sugar - 1/2 c
- milk - 1/3 c
- butter or margarine - 1/4 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- vegetable oil
- all-purpose flour - 3 c
- powdered sugar - 1 c
- dash of salt - 1 item
- ground cinnamon - 2 tsp
- ground allspice - 1/2 tsp
- chopped pecans optional - 1 c
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each
- peeled and cored apples, sliced
How to make caramel apple cake:
In mixing bowl, combine oil and sugars. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Combine dry ingredients and add to batter. Stir well and fold in apples, nuts and vanilla. Pour into a greased and floured tube pan. Bake 1 1/2 hours at 350°. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Put on wire rack to cool.Icing:1/2 c. brown sugar1/3 c. milk1/4 c. butter or margarine dash of salt1 c. powdered sugar1 c. chopped pecans (optional) In double boiler over simmering water, heat sugars, milk, butter and salt until dissolved.
