Caramel apple cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla - 2 tsp
- packed brown sugar - 1 c
- milk - 1/4 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 3 c
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- vegetable oil
- margarine
- pecans - 1 c
- pinch salt - 1 item
- peeled, chopped apples - 3 c
How to make caramel apple cake:
Topping:1/2 c. margarine1/4 c. milk1 c. packed brown sugar1 pinch salt In a large bowl, beat eggs until foamy. Gradually add sugar. Beat in oil and vanilla. In another bowl, stir together flour, salt and baking soda. Add to egg mixture. Stir in apples and pecans. Batter will be stiff. Pour into well-greased and floured Bundt pan. (Be sure the Bundt pan is your largest, or use angel food as this is a big cake.) Bake at 350° for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until tests done with a wooden toothpick. Cool for 10 minutes and remove to serving platter. While cake is cooling, prepare caramel topping.Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and stir over low temperature. Boil 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Make little slits in the crown of the cake and slowly pour over the top while the cake is still warm. This cake has a wonderful buttery flavor.
