Cabbage rolls
Ingredients/Components
- granulated sugar - 6 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- water - 1/2 c
- vinegar - 3 Tbsp
- cans tomato sauce - 2 oz
- pepper to taste - 1 item
- lean ground beef - 1 lb
- uncooked rice - 3 Tbsp
- large cabbage leaves - 12 item
- medium onion, grated - 1 item
How to make cabbage rolls:
Combine meat, rice, onion, water, salt and pepper. Drop cabbage leaves in boiling, salted water for a few minutes, until they are pliable. Drain and dry cabbage. Divide meat mixture into 12 parts. Place 1 part on each cabbage leaf. Roll leaves, tucking ends securely. Place rolls, seam side down, close together in baking dish.Combine tomato sauce, vinegar and sugar. Pour over rolls. Bake, covered, at 325° for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Baste rolls with sauce occasionally.
