Butterscotch brownies
Ingredients/Components
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1/2 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 1/4 c
- sifted flour - 3/4 c
- light brown sugar, packed - 1 c
How to make butterscotch brownies:
Heat oven to 350°. Grease an 8-inch square pan. In saucepan, melt over low heat shortening; take from heat and stir in brown sugar. Set aside to cool. Into cooled sugar and shortening, stir egg; add and blend well flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in vanilla and nuts. Spread in pan. Bake 25 minutes, only until a toothpick stuck in center comes out clean. Do not overbake! Cool in pan and cut into squares.
