  • brown sugar - 2 c
  • butter - 1/2 c
  • water
  • vinegar - 1 Tbsp
  • molasses - 1/4 c

How to make butterscotch:

Boil sugar, molasses, vinegar and water together for 2 minutes, then add the butter and keep on boiling, without stirring, until mixture becomes brittle when tried in cold water. Pour into a buttered pan; when nearly cool, cut with a sharp knife.
