Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- eggs - 2 item
- flour - 4 5
- soda - 1/2 tsp
- pinch of salt - 1 item
- melted butter - 1/2 c
- raisins - 1 c
- dry yeast, in 1/2 c - 2 pkg
- buttermilk, heated to lukewarm - 2 c
How to make buttermilk coffee cake:
Heat buttermilk to lukewarm; add soda. Stir in melted butter, sugar and salt. Add 2 cups flour. Stir in yeast. Add eggs. Beat thoroughly. Add remaining flour and raisins.Knead lightly. This is a soft, sticky dough. Let rise until double. Shape into round loaves. Flour hands to shape dough. Bake at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes in 9 x 13-inch pan.
