Ingredients/Components
- shortening - 1 c
- sugar - 2 c
- buttermilk - 1 c
- flour - 3 c
- lemon extract - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- eggs - 4 item
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- vanilla - 1 tsp
How to make buttermilk cake:
Cream shortening until fluffy. Add sugar slowly beating it in. Sift dry ingredients together 2 or 3 times, then add alternately with buttermilk to the first mixture. Add vanilla and lemon extract.
