Buttermilk cake

Ingredients/Components

• shortening - 1 c
• sugar - 2 c
• buttermilk - 1 c
• flour - 3 c
• lemon extract - 1 tsp
• salt - 1 tsp
• eggs - 4 item
• baking powder - 1/2 tsp
• vanilla - 1 tsp

How to make buttermilk cake:

Cream shortening until fluffy. Add sugar slowly beating it in. Sift dry ingredients together 2 or 3 times, then add alternately with buttermilk to the first mixture. Add vanilla and lemon extract. Bake in tube pan about 45 minutes at 350°. May be eaten with or without frosting.
