Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3/4 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- butter - 1 Tbsp
- raisins optional - 1/2 c
- slightly beaten eggs - 4 item
- scalded milk - 4 c
- dry bread cubes - 2 c
How to make bread pudding:
Preheat oven to 350°. Soak bread in milk for 5 minutes. Add sugar, butter and salt. Pour mixture slowly over eggs. Add vanilla; mix well. Add 1/2 cup raisins, if desired. Pour into greased 1 1/2-quart baking dish. Bake in pan of hot water for about 1 hour, or until firm. Serve warm. Serves 8.Recipe categories: Desserts, Puddings and mousses, American.
