Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 5 c
- medium onions, sliced - 6 item
- celery salt - 1/2 tsp
- white vinegar - 3 c
- mustard seed - 2 tsp
- turmeric
- canning salt - 1/3 c
- sliced cucumbers - 4 qt
How to make bread and butter pickles:
Mix cucumbers, onions and canning salt. Cover with ice water and let stand 3 hours. Mix vinegar, sugar, turmeric, celery seed and mustard seed. Cook until hot. Drain cucumbers and add to brine. Boil up, pack and seal.Recipe categories: American, Condiments, etc., Vegetables.
