Quick bread and butter pickles
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 5 c
- salt - 1/3 c
- celery seed
- medium onions, sliced - 6 item
- green pepper, sliced - 1 item
- white vinegar - 3 c
- mustard seed - 2 tsp
- turmeric
- sliced cucumbers - 4 qt
- red pepper, sliced - 1 item
How to make quick bread and butter pickles:
In a large pan, place cucumbers, onions and peppers. Cover with ice cubes. Sprinkle with salt. Let stand 3 hours or overnight. Do not rinse! Drain and add white vinegar, sugar, turmeric, celery seed and mustard seed. Bring to a rolling boil. Put in hot jars and seal.Recipe categories: < 30 mins, Condiments, etc., Vegetarian.
