Ingredients/Components
- medium cucumbers - 12 item
- sugar - 2 c
- large onions or 12 small onions, sliced - 3 item
- turmeric - 2 tsp
- mustard seed - 2 tsp
- celery seed - 2 tsp
- vinegar - 2 c
How to make bread and butter pickles:
Wash and slice cucumbers. Soak for 2 hours in a solution of 1 part salt to 12 parts water. Drain. Add sliced onions.Combine sugar, turmeric, mustard seed, celery seed and vinegar and bring to boil. Add pickle mixture and bring to boil. Pack in sterile jars and seal. Serve pickles cold.
