  • sugar - 8 c
  • salt - 1/2 c
  • vinegar - 2 qt
  • onions, sliced - 12 item
  • mustard seed - 1/2 c
  • green peppers - 4 item
  • turmeric - 2 Tbsp
  • cucumbers, sliced - 6 qt

How to make bread and butter pickles:

Salt cucumbers, peppers and onions in layers. Let stand 3 hours. Boil vinegar and remaining ingredients. Drain cucumbers, peppers and onions and then add to vinegar mixture. Bring to a boil. Pack into jars and seal at once.
