Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 5 c
- vinegar - 5 c
- celery seed
- mustard seed - 2 tsp
- turmeric - 2 tsp
- onions - 8 item
- pickling salt - 1/2 c
- cucumbers, sliced thin - 1 gal
How to make bread and butter pickles:
In a large kettle or bowl, mix together the cucumbers (do not peel), onions and pickling salt. Pour 1 quart ice over and cover with a weighted lid. Let stand 3 hours. Drain.
