Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • boiling water
  • vinegar - 1 tsp
  • bay leaf - 1 item
  • oregano - 1/2 tsp
  • olive oil - 1/2 c
  • medium onion, chopped - 1 item
  • green pepper, diced - 1 item
  • cloves garlic, chopped - 5 item
  • uncooked rice - 1 c
  • cumin - 1/2 tsp
  • cans black beans - 2 item

How to make black beans and rice:

Saute first 4 ingredients. Add remaining ingredients and simmer until rice is tender (about 20 minutes). Add cornbread and a salad and you have a light and easy meal.
