Ingredients/Components
- chicken breasts - 5 lb
- water - 2 qt
- parsley sprigs for garnish - 1 item
- large onion, quartered - 1 item
- seasoned salt - 1 tsp
- chicken bouillon cubes - 2 item
- Lower heat and simmer 40 minutes
- white vinegar - 1 Tbsp
- dash of paprika - 1 item
- honey - 1 Tbsp
- celery seed
- sugar - 2 Tbsp
- salt - 1/8 tsp
- sour cream - 1/2 c
How to make beyond the grave chicken salad:
In a large pot, bring water and seasonings to a boil; add chicken. Lower heat and simmer 40 minutes. Remove from heat; cool. Shred chicken and refrigerate.Dressing:1/2 c. bottled Italian salad dressing1 c. Duke's mayonnaise1 Tbsp. white vinegar dash of paprika1 Tbsp. honey1 1/2 tsp. celery seed2 Tbsp. sugar1/8 tsp. salt1/2 c. sour cream To make dressing, combine Italian dressing, mayonnaise, vinegar, paprika, celery seed, sugar and salt. Toss shredded chicken with one cup of dressing and let stand at least one hour to marinate. Combine remaining dressing with sour cream and honey. Add to chicken and mix well. (May add canned water chestnuts, blanched almonds or chopped pecans, if desired.)Recipe categories: Salads, Main dish, Chicken breast.
