Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 1/3 c
  • water - 1 c
  • vegetable oil - 2 Tbsp
  • margarine - 2 Tbsp
  • paprika - 1 tsp
  • sage - 1/8 tsp
  • medium onion - 1 item
  • basil
  • carrots - 5 item
  • potatoes - 5 item
  • thyme - 1/8 tsp
  • stew meat - 1 lb

How to make beef stew:

Cut stew meat in bite-sized pieces. In clean sandwich bags, combine flour, salt, paprika and sage. Crush basil and thyme; add to flour. Shake well to mix. Put stew meat in flour mixture and shake until meat is covered.

Spray skillet with nonstick substance. Heat skillet on medium heat. Add margarine and vegetable oil. When margarine is melted, add meat and brown. Reduce heat to medium-low and add 1/2 cup water and onion. Cover and simmer. Add potatoes and carrots to meat. Cover and simmer until done.
