Ingredients/Components

  • flour
  • pepper - 1 item
  • red wine - 1 c
  • mushrooms - 1/2 lb
  • marjoram - 1 item
  • thyme - 1 item
  • beef bouillon - 1/2 c
  • bacon drippings - 2 Tbsp
  • small onions, sliced - 10 item
  • chuck, lean, inch cubes - 2 lb
  • generous pinch of salt - 1 item

How to make beef bourguignon:

Brown onions in drippings. Take out and add meat. After browning, add flour, salt, pepper, marjoram and thyme.

Add beef bouillon and red wine. Let simmer 3 1/4 hours. Put onions back in and add mushrooms. Cook 3/4 hour. Sauce is thick. Add more bouillon if too thick.
