Basic yeast dough
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 Tbsp
- milk
- butter or margarine - 3 Tbsp
- salt - 2 tsp
- water - 1/2 c
- all-purpose flour - 5 c
- dry yeast - 1 pkg
How to make basic yeast dough:
Combine 2 cups flour, sugar, salt and yeast in a large mixing bowl. Stir well. Combine milk, water and butter in saucepan; cook over low heat until butter melts (do not overheat). Gradually add liquid mixture to dry mixture. Add gradually remaining flour until dough is soft.Knead dough on floured surface about 7 minutes. Shape into a ball and place in well-greased bowl. Cover and let rise. After dough rises, punch dough down and shape into rolls. Let rise. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until brown. Makes 3 1/2 dozen rolls.
