Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 3 Tbsp
  • milk
  • butter or margarine - 3 Tbsp
  • salt - 2 tsp
  • water - 1/2 c
  • all-purpose flour - 5 c
  • dry yeast - 1 pkg

How to make basic yeast dough:

Combine 2 cups flour, sugar, salt and yeast in a large mixing bowl. Stir well. Combine milk, water and butter in saucepan; cook over low heat until butter melts (do not overheat). Gradually add liquid mixture to dry mixture. Add gradually remaining flour until dough is soft.

Knead dough on floured surface about 7 minutes. Shape into a ball and place in well-greased bowl. Cover and let rise. After dough rises, punch dough down and shape into rolls. Let rise. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until brown. Makes 3 1/2 dozen rolls.
