  • sugar
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 3/4 tsp
  • flour - 2 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • shortening - 1 c
  • nuts - 1/2 c
  • mashed bananas - 1 c
  • sour milk or buttermilk - 1/2 c

How to make banana nut cake:

Stir shortening to soften. Sift in dry ingredients. Add 1/4 cup milk and the bananas; mix until flour is dampened or 2 minutes. Add eggs, nuts and remaining milk. Beat 1 minute. Bake in 350° oven about 25 minutes or until done.
