Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 3/4 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- mashed bananas - 1 c
- oleo - 1/2 c
- Cream sugar and shortening
- milk, barely heated - 1/2 c
How to make banana cake:
Sift and measure dry ingredients. Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and beat. Add bananas and mix. Add flour, milk and vanilla alternately; mix well. Bake in two layers at 375° for about 25 to 30 minutes. Frost with Buttercream Frosting.Buttercream Frosting:1/2 c. Crisco1/2 c. oleo1 c. sugar1 tsp. vanilla1/2 c. milk, barely heated Oleo and shortening should be at room temperature and warm milk, barely heated. Mix all ingredients; beat well.
