vanilla - 1 tsp
salt - 1/2 tsp
flour - 2 c
soda - 1 tsp
buttermilk - 3/4 c
baking powder - 1 tsp
Crisco - 1/2 c
mashed bananas - 1 c
oleo - 1/2 c
Cream sugar and shortening
milk, barely heated - 1/2 c

How to make banana cake:

Sift and measure dry ingredients. Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and beat. Add bananas and mix. Add flour, milk and vanilla alternately; mix well. Bake in two layers at 375° for about 25 to 30 minutes. Frost with Buttercream Frosting.Buttercream Frosting:1/2 c. Crisco1/2 c. oleo1 c. sugar1 tsp. vanilla1/2 c. milk, barely heated Oleo and shortening should be at room temperature and warm milk, barely heated. Mix all ingredients; beat well. Frost cake; sprinkle cake with chopped nuts.
