Baking powder biscuits
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 Tbsp
- milk - 1 c
- salt
- flour - 2 c
- baking powder
- shortening - 1/2 c
How to make baking powder biscuits:
Combine dry ingredients with shortening and mix with a pastry blender or two knives until the mixture has a coarse cornmeal-like consistency. Stir in the milk, blending until all ingredients are together. Turn onto a lightly floured board. Pat out flat and fold over; repeat about 2 times. Pat out to desired thickness (about 1/2-inch) and cut into desired shapes. (This dough is very wet when trying to pat into shape, do not add additional flour.) Place in a well-greased baking dish. Bake in a 425° oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Serve hot. Makes approximately 1 dozen medium size biscuits.Recipe categories: Breads, Rolls/biscuits, High calcium.
