Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 Tbsp
- brown sugar - 1 c
- water - 1 c
- honey - 1/4 c
- dark molasses - 2 Tbsp
- dry mustard - 2 tsp
- medium chopped onion - 1 item
- salt pork or bacon - 1/4 lb
- yellow eye beans - 3 c
How to make baked beans:
Soak the beans overnight. Cook until the skins pull back. Let the beans stand one hour in the liquid. Drain and place beans in a crock-pot. Combine all other ingredients and mix. Cover and cook on low heat for 10 to 12 hours or cook on high for 4 to 6 hours. The best method is to cook on high for 3 hours and then lower temperature.
