Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- water - 1 item
- shortening - 1/2 c
- self-rising flour - 2 c
- to 6 apples - 4 item
- ?? butter of margarine - 1/2 item
How to make apple dumplings:
Peel apples; dice into small pieces and set aside. Mix together the flour and shortening. Add enough water to form a soft dough. Divide dough into biscuit size sections. Roll each section as flat as possible. Put apples on flattened dough; fold each area of circle up, tucking at top to seal in apples. Place these in a greased baking dish.In saucepan, mix together remaining ingredients (butter, water, sugar and cinnamon); bring to a boil. Pour liquid over prepared dumplings. Bake at 400° until dumplings are lightly browned on top. Basting during baking time is helpful.
