Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 2 Tbsp
- water - 2 3
- confectioners sugar - 1/2 c
- shortening - 1 c
- all-purpose flour - 3 c
- egg yolk - 1 item
- ground cinnamon - 1 tsp
- melted butter or margarine - 1/4 c
- sliced, peeled apples
- Glaze:1 egg
How to make apple danish:
Filling:6 c. sliced, peeled apples1 c. sugar1/4 c. melted butter or margarine2 Tbsp. flour1 tsp. ground cinnamon Glaze:1 egg1/2 c. confectioners sugar2 to 3 tsp. water In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt; cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Combine egg yolk and milk; add to flour mixture. Stir just until dough clings together. Divide dough in half. On a lightly floured surface, roll half of dough into a 15 x 10-inch rectangle; transfer to a greased 15 x 10 x 1-inch baking pan. Set aside.In a bowl, toss together filling ingredients; spoon over pastry in pan. Roll out remaining dough to another 15 x 10-inch rectangle. Place over filling. Brush with egg white. Bake at 375° for 40 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack. Combine the confectioners sugar and enough water to achieve a drizzling consistency. Drizzle over warm pastry. Cut into squares. Serve warm or cold. Makes 20 to 24 servings.
