Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 4 Tbsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 2 c
- baking powder - 3 tsp
- plain flour - 5 c
- Crisco - 1 c
- dry yeast - 1 pkg
- lukewarm water - 2 Tbsp
How to make angel biscuits:
Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Sift together dry ingredients; cut in shortening. Add yeast and buttermilk to dry ingredients. Knead enough to hold together; roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut with biscuit cutter and fold into halves. Set aside and let rise approximately 1 hour. Bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes. Makes 30 to 40.Recipe categories: Breads, Rolls/biscuits, Yeast breads.
