Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 Tbsp
- brown sugar - 1 Tbsp
- warm water - 1 c
- whole wheat flour - 3 c
- dry yeast - 1 pkg
- milk, scalded - 1 c
- melted fat - 2 Tbsp
- white flour enough to make a satiny dough - 1 item
How to make whole wheat bread:
Dissolve yeast in warm water with brown sugar. Beat milk, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, salt, fat and whole wheat flour. Add enough white flour to make a satiny dough. Cover with wax paper and thin towel; let double in bulk. Knead down; let rise again and put in loaves (2 loaves). Bake at 375° for 40 minutes. By adding 1 egg, more brown sugar, raisins and cinnamon or dates, you can change this into a very delicious quick bread. Also can be iced.Recipe categories: Breads, Low cholesterol, Yeast breads.
