Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- water - 1 c
- baking powder - 1 Tbsp
- egg whites - 8 item
- Crisco - 1 c
- light corn syrup - 1/3 c
- cake flour - 3 c
- almond flavoring - 1 tsp
- pinch of cream of tartar - 1 item
How to make white cake:
Icing:3 c. sugar1/3 c. light corn syrup1 c. water pinch of cream of tartar1 tsp. water3 egg whites Cream butter and sugar well. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together 3 times. Add to creamed mixture alternately with water. Add 2 egg whites at a time, beating well after each addition. Add flavoring. Bake at 350° until done.Icing: Combine sugar, syrup and 1 cup water. Boil until spins a thread. In separate container, put cream of tartar and 1 teaspoon water in egg whites. Beat stiffly. Pour liquid into stiffly beaten egg whites very slowly while still beating. Beat until thick. Can sift about 3 heaping tablespoonfuls of confectioners sugar if not thick enough or water to thin.
