  • pkg - 1 oz
  • hot water - 2 c
  • cold water
  • crushed pineapple, drained reserve liquid - 2 c
  • large diced bananas - 3 item
  • miniature marshmallows - 1 c
  • butter
  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • pineapple juice - 1/2 c
  • flour - 1 Tbsp
  • egg, beaten - 1 item
  • small jar pimento cheese spread - 1 item
  • Dream Whip, prepared as on the box - 1 pkg

How to make velvet salad:

Topping:2 Tbsp. butter1/2 c. sugar1/2 c. pineapple juice1 Tbsp. flour1 egg, beaten1 small jar pimento cheese spread1 pkg. Dream Whip, prepared as on the box Salad: Dissolve jello in hot water; add cold water (use extra pineapple juice if wish for part of water). Chill until sluppy; add other ingredients. Pour into 2 1/2 or 3 quart mold or casserole. Refrigerate several hours.

Topping: Combine butter, sugar, juice, egg and flour in heavy saucepan. Cook until thick. Dissolve pimento cheese spread in this. Cool and fold in Dream Whip; spread on top.
