Tortilla soup
Ingredients/Components
- sour cream - 1 item
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- cooking oil - 1/4 c
- pepper - 1/2 tsp
- chili powder - 1/2 tsp
- garlic clove - 1 item
- small onion, quartered - 1 item
- minced fresh cilantro or parsley - 1 Tbsp
- medium tomato, quartered - 1 item
- shredded Cheddar Jack cheese - 1 item
- can whole peeled tomatoes with liquid - 1 1/2
- each condensed chicken broth undiluted - 2 cans
- grated coriander - 1/4 tsp
- grated cumin - 1/4 tsp
- corn tortillas 6-inch - 6 item
How to make tortilla soup:
Place tomatoes, onions and garlic in blender or food processor; blend until smooth. Transfer to a large saucepan. Add chicken broth and seasonings. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 3 minutes. Cut tortillas into 1/2-inch strips. Fry in hot oil until crisp and brown. Drain. Ladle soup into bowls.
