Tortilla soup
Ingredients/Components
- vegetable oil - 1 Tbsp
- cloves garlic, minced - 2 item
- chili powder - 1 tsp
- onion, chopped - 1 item
- diced cooked chicken - 1 c
- chicken stock - 3 c
- cumin - 1 tsp
- can pureed tomatoes - 1 1/2
- can chopped tomatoes with green chilies, drained - 1 1/2
- corn tortillas, cut in 1/4-inch - 4 item
- diced avocado, grated Monterey Jack cheese, Cheddar cheese or sour cream for garnish optional - 1 item
How to make tortilla soup:
Combine ingredients, except corn tortillas. Simmer soup slowly. Before serving, crisp tortilla strips in skillet with small amount of oil. Add to soup before serving.Recipe categories: Vegetables, Soups & stews, North american.
